Cellardays

Drawing on years of sales, service and wine region exploration, Cellardays has a focus on personal connections - with producers, resellers and wine lovers alike.

Our preference is for wines made by hands-on, dedicated producers that offer something unique to Aotearoa New Zealand. Based in a strong affinity for the wines of Greece, Cellardays represents producers from home and further afield that share these qualities.

Our Producers

Iliana Malíhin

Rethymon, Crete

Reviving ancient vineyards on Crete’s mountainous slopes, Iliana Malihin has become one of the most talked about young winemakers in Greece thanks to her spellbinding Vidianos. Devastating fires in 2022 reduced the output but not the determination or quality.

Gaia

Santorini/Nemea, Greece

Taking a dual-pronged approach since 1996, Gaia has set the parameters for two iconic regions. Beginning with Thalassitis in Santorini, this modern, linear and austere approach to Assyrtiko helped the grape to international renown. Meanwhile their Nemea winery is region-leading and dedicated to expanding the range of expressions of Agiorgitiko, and producing age-worthy examples.

Troupis

Mantinea, Greece

Troupis first appeared on the winemaking scene in 2010. The family has been cultivating their privately owned Moschofilero vineyards since the 1970s. Today, the winery produces a variety of labels using alternative winemaking methods which involve ceramic containers, concrete tanks, oak and acacia barrels, as well as skin contact times of several hours or even several days, fermentation with indigenous yeasts and minimum interventions.

Petrakopoulos

Kefalonia, Greece

With a vision of showcasing the wealth of Kefalonian grape and vine diversity, Petrakopoulos create unique, high quality wines from the valuable local varieties and from charismatic vineyards of the island. Using organic and handcrafted processes, Petrakopoulos create a range of expressions from Robola, Zakynthino and Mavrodafne.

Oenops

Drama, Greece

OENOPS WINES was founded in late 2015 by Nikos Karatzas and friends and it is the most recently established winery in the region of Drama, in northern Greece. Their main purpose is to produce high quality wines with minimal intervention in limited quantities. The grapes are mostly greek varieties and come from selected vineyards mostly from the region of Macedonia from our team of grape growers.

Thymiopoulos

Imathia, Greece

Committed to organic and biodynamic farming, and
working with indigenous grapes, Apostolos Thymiopoulous is one of the winemakers steering Greek wines towards an innovative future and global recognition. With further projects in Rapsani and Santorini, the Naoussa wines of Thymiopoulos showcase eight expressions of Xinomavro, with region-leading focus on village- and site-specificity.

Lyrarakis

Heraklion, Crete

Established in 1966, this family owned winery lies at an altitude of 440m within the hinterland of Heraklion prefecture. Having revived and propagated near-extinct indigenous Cretan varieties, they now lead the island with precise and pure expressions of variety and terroir.
